Truth is that which never changes.
Mr. Jesus says:
I am the Truth.
I am the Way.
I am the Light.
In me you have peace,
in the world you have tribulations.
I am with you always.
What is with us always?
The simple effortless sense of being:
I am, I exist.
Prior to the arising of thoughts and feelings.
It is so simple and ordinary that we overlook it in favor of experience and stories we tell ourself. We look out into the world, observe thinking and feeling, but overlook the Presence “I AM”.
For Holger “I AM” was an acquired taste! I needed someone to introduce me to myself: “you are not what you think and feel to be, you are the Presence of Awareness in which everything arises and subsides”. The introduction was some intellectual understanding, but mainly it was feeling trust, love, gentleness.
The ‘me’ (we habitually identify as) hates this type of talk, because thinking cannot figure out what ‘I am’ actually is! It’s a mystery, yet undeniable; who could say I am not?
